Burnishers Crop
The production of a book was accomplished by the assimilation of many specialized tasks. The first step was to prepare the parchment until it was suitable to take ink and paint. Then the scribe would write out the text, leaving room for illustrations that would be sketched in by the master of the workshop. At this point the gilding was done, then finally the painting of the miniatures.
